An extensive operation cracking down on cross-border criminals chalked up another success after police units stopped a stolen cloned van and arrested the driver for multiple offences.
After the vehicle was spotted Nottinghamshire officers followed it up the A1 northbound to Five Lane Ends where a stinger was deployed, and the Citroen van came to a stop.
Checks revealed it had been stolen from an address in Leeds and was on cloned plates.
A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, going equipped for the theft of a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance.
The successful stop, which happened at around 2.40am today (Thursday 5 October 2023), is the latest example of the force’s wider ongoing work, working closely alongside neighbouring forces, to tackle and reduce serious cross-border criminality.
Teams of officers continue to target and intercept travelling cross-border criminals suspected of committing crimes, with patrols monitoring main routes, including the A1 corridor, to clamp down on those moving between counties in an attempt to evade capture
